General Information

Firat University Faculty of Health Sciences was established in 1996 under the name of “Firat University Elazig School of Health”. Elazig School of Health started education in 1997-1998 with Midwifery, Nursing and Health Officer Departments. Health Officer Department was combined with Nursing Department with the letter dated 18/05/2007 and numbered 1849 of the Presidency of Higher Education Council. There are 4 departments in our faculty as Midwifery, Nursing and Nutrition, Dietetics and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. Nursing Department continued its education, training and academic activities within “Elazig School of Health” until 2015. Since September 2015, it has continued as “Nursing Department” within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION

The educational activities of our Nursing Department are carried out at undergraduate level. The language of instruction is Turkish, and internships can be done in most health institutions in the region. Undergraduate education includes theoretical and practical courses on the basic areas of nursing. The education program is organized in accordance with the international European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) standards and the Bologna harmonization process. Students can benefit from MEVLANA, ERASMUS and FARABI programs. Our department's academic staff consists of 15 faculty members, 3 lecturers and 2 research assistants, totaling 20 faculty members.

As the Nursing Department, our mission is to train nurse candidates who undertake the task of improving and protecting health for sick and healthy individuals, provide patient and care-oriented services, respect human rights, are aware of all nursing roles and implement them, understand the importance of teamwork, and follow scientific developments.

VISION

As the Nursing Department, our vision is to train nurse candidates who are fully equipped in technical and practical terms with advanced technology laboratories, carrying a world-class education quality.
